From the book “Pensacola’s Finest in Pictures,” available on Amazon.
The first photo is just after delivery of unfinished 1961 Dodge Polara Police Cars at the Pensacola, Florida Police Department. These cars came equipped with whitewall tires and a spotlight mounted on the driver’s side. After the city garage outfitted the vehicles with paint and equipment, they were ready for service. The second photo shows the same cruisers. They have been outfitted at the city garage – known as “The Stables” – and are one step from being ready to be put into service. The final police markings are all that is left. The photo was taken in the back parking lot of the Pensacola Police Department at 40 South Alcaniz Street in downtown Pensacola.
