It was home

40 S. Alcaniz Street

It was next to the old St. Michael’s Cemetery. From 1956 to 1987, it served the Pensacola Police Department as Headquarters. Many careers started there, many ended there. Many firecrackers and cherry bombs were set off there as pranks. Fights took place inside and outside. Some joined the turban club there. Few remember the interior communication tool, also known as the bathroom wall. Many crimes were solved, and at least one officer died there. When it was built, it was the grand station on the outside of downtown. When it closed, it was old and smelly. But it was home for many years.
